DescriptionThe Vanderbilt Trauma Conference is a weekly event that allows individuals within Vanderbilt and the referring area that care for trauma patients to gather for a presentation of patients and cases from the previous week. Cases are presented via video, still image and oral presentation. Teaching points are discussed along with systems/quality issues and pertinent literature. The conference is attended by a multitude of disciplines and is coordinated as a joint venture between the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Division of Trauma. This is a quality/teaching conference. Any and all personal patient information that is disseminated within conference is confidential. The conference and the information covered within is privileged & confidential under TCA S63-6-219, attorney client privileges and other applicable laws, and shall not be disclosed to unauthorized persons. Photography/Images and VideoAll the images and video utilized during the conference is covered under the VU policy here (VU login and password required) the policy is entitled "Patient Photography and the Trauma Resuscitation Process" CultureThe conference is conducted with an attitude of collegiality and collaboration. At times individual actions are scrutinized and assessed; this is done in a spirit of quality and performance improvement. The goal being to promote patient safety, enhance learning, improve decision making and bolster system performance. AttendanceAny practioners involved in the care of trauma patients are welcome to attend. The institutional polices and procedures that cover patient privacy/HIPPA and QA/QI at Vanderbilt are applicable. ![]()
