Vanderbilt is the only Level 1 trauma center within the geographic area encompassing southern KY, middle TN and northern AL, roughly an area of >50,000 square miles. Vanderbilt consistently ranks among the top trauma centers in the US in the area of patient outcomes and patient volume. The time from injury to highly specialized trauma care is critical in saving lives and decreasing disabilities.
