Working with trauma patients is stressful and can lead to PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) in emergency workers. Our job is tough, very fatiguing and requires a certain level of self awareness and care. The Trauma Mantra focuses on what you have practice daily and do consistently. We have a difficult job; one that is at times thankless. It is imperative we treat everyone with dignity and respect. survive, do no harm, be nice Everything you need to know about working and thriving in the trauma bay can be encompassed in the above phrase. Survive - your first responsibility is to your personal safety and well being, you are also responsbile for the patient's safety and well being along with your team members.
